Bradford on Avon was once a thriving wool town built on the side of a hill. It was so famous for its wool products that a town in Yorkshire was named after it. When the wool trade declined many of its older buildings fell into disrepair and were due for demolition. Fortunately a successful preservation society was formed and the demolition programme was halted. Buildings that were selling for a few hundred pounds now sell for many hundreds of thousands. Another architectural gem, especially the Saxon church by the river.
